Aspirin Prevent Skin Cancer
These results were found after researchers conducted research since 1991-2009 to 200 thousand patients in Denmark. From the research, it was discovered 3242 participants diagnosed with malignant melanoma, 1974 was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma diagnosed 13,316.
Participants who ate more than two recipes and drink regular painkillers, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen, are likely to have a 15 percent lower risk of squamous cell carcinoma and 13 percent reduction in the risk of malignant melanoma, compared to those who are fewer prescription drugs.
Researchers also revealed that the higher the dose and the longer a person taking prescription painkillers, the greater the protective effect.
"We hope that as a potential cancer-protective effects of painkillers will inspire more research on the prevention of skin cancer, including the cancer-protective effect, but must consider the benefits and dangers of NSAID users," said Sigrun Alba Johannesdottir researchers from Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark, quoted by the BBC.
Although aspirin is considered able to reduce the risk of skin cancer, researchers still believe reducing exposure to sunlight is still the best way to prevent skin cancer.
