Cancer Treatment by Freezing

As one of the leading causes of death in the country, a treatment for cancer treatment being developed. Now, with the use of cryosurgery technology is expected to become an alternative cancer treatment.

Prof. R. Sjamsuhidayat of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia revealed that cryosurgery provides a bright future for cancer patients.

"Cryosurgery provides many advantages in the technique of cancer treatment. Side effects of this treatment technique are smaller and can be tolerated by elderly patients is not recommended to do the surgery," he explained in a seminar "New Insight Cryosurgery in Cancer" in MRCCC Siloam Hospitals.

Cryosurgery or freezing technique is a cancer treatment technique using multiple needle cryo (injection needles) are inserted into the cancerous tissue. The needles are then argon gas flow helium supercooled to a temperature of -160 degrees Celsius.

"The network that had been injected with cancer cells, then it will freeze. Networks of cancer cells will still be left in your body and will not be removed," added Chairman of the International Society of Cryosurgery, Dr. Franco Lugnani.

Network of cancer cells, according to Dr. Franco, will shrink in size due to the effect of freezing. Interestingly, this treatment technique to stimulate the body's immune system response. Thus, the immune system will kill the cancer cells.

Patients do not need to use cryotherapy treatment with other cancer therapies, such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy or a mastectomy.
