Ginseng Benefits for Cancer Patients
Chronic fatigue syndrome is a common result of cancer during and after cancer treatment. Herbs, ginseng, seem to be a natural way to reduce fatigue common in people with cancer.
"After eight weeks, we saw an increase of 20 points in the rate of fatigue in cancer patients as measured on a standard 100-point scale fatigue scale," said study researcher Debra Barton, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, reported by Huffingtonpost.
Fatigue in cancer patients is associated with increased inflammatory cytokine immune system and high levels of stress hormones, kartisol.
The active ingredients found in pure ginseng roots, namely ginsenoside, helping to reduce cytokine associated with inflammation and help regulate hormone levels kartisol when tested using animals.
Another study by researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center suggests ginseng can lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
And in trials in the laboratory of the cell, ginseng helps stop the growth of colorectal cancer cells (colon). Ginseng is believed to enhance the body's immune system.
