Sports Lower Breast Cancer Risk

Sports not just make the body fit, but also to minimize the risk of certain diseases.

Recent findings by American researchers showed that regular exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer by 30 percent.

Previously, researchers have conducted a study involving 1,500 women with breast cancer and 1,550 cancer-free women of the same age.

They were interviewed about their exercise habits and lifestyle, such as smoking and drinking alcohol.

The findings, published in the Journal of Cancer found that women on average work 9-17 hours a week had 30 percent less likely to develop breast cancer than women who are lazy to exercise.

Researchers explained that regular physical activity can reduce excessive fat in the body. Excess body fat is associated with high levels of certain hormones, including estrogen, as well as substances known as growth factors, which may provide dietary intake to the development of cancer.

"It's never too late to start. Evidence we showed that if you start to exercise after menopause, you can still help yourself," said researcher Lauren McCullough, from the University of North Carolina, told through CBNNews.
