The number of cancer patients in Indonesia is predicted to continue to rise. Estimated that in 2030, cancer cases in the world will increase to 75 percent.

Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Ghufron Mukti Ali, M.Sc, Ph.D, explains that cancer has sucked expenses either by society or the government up to 60 percent.

"Now, cancer is a leading cause of death no. 7 (5.7 percent) in the country with a prevalence of 4.3 per 1,000 population," he said in a seminar 'New Insight Cryosurgery in Cancer' in MRCCC Siloam Hospital.

In Jakarta, of many types of cancer, breast cancer cases and cervical cancer being the most suffered by women. While bronchus cancer and lung cancer to be the case with the highest number of patients for a man.

Until now, according to Dr.. Ali Ghufron, the government continues to try to control the number of cancer patients with a variety of policies and strategies.

"The government is serious in controlling the spread of cancer, including cancer information dissemination, early detection (screening) and immediate treatment, providing community access to cancer services, even in partnership with the private sector and the participation of local governments," he explained.
